THE STONE HOUSE IN REVA
Unique, rare, distinctive, interesting, exciting, these are the regular comments from those that have toured the Stone House in Reva. While this house was constructed in two phases, one that ended in 1965 and another ending in 1974, in actuality, this house was an on going project for more than 30 years. The Stone House was built by, and the personal residence of, a popular and well known local master stone mason. This structure was his passion, his hobby, his legacy and his pride and joy. The builder's commitment to excellence as well as his gifted talent can be seen in all the many unique details through out the house.

Centered on 3.52 acres facing the Blue Ridge Mountains with more than 5000 sq feet of finished, heated and cooled living area on two levels.   17 rooms, 2 garages (1-car and 2-car), two porches and a balcony. The floorplan offers four bathrooms, two kitchens, two wet bars, dining room, living room, family room, a master suite and five rooms that offer the flexibility of multiply uses, bedroom, study, office, etc. The main kitchen has new appliances and granite countertops.  There are six custom stone fireplaces, along with a stone spiral staircase in the center of the house.

The exterior of the house features stone accented by fascias and soffits of intricate detail wood and hand crafted, job built rough iron railings. The main entrance is found off an elevated porch that is more than eight feet wide and 30 feet long. The dining room also opens onto the front porch. The front elevation of the house is more than 100 feet wide featuring walls that accept many coordinated planes while preserving a simple gable roof line that is interrupted midway by a perpendicular gable. Architecturally the house is properly scaled, balanced and attractive. The rear elevation features four doors opening onto a long porch. The rear of the house invites comfortable outdoor living with convenient access from all parts of the house.

The interior of the house features a combination wood and stone, the likes of which is rarely seen. The floors are all hardwood or tile. Cabinets and builtins sprinkle the accent of wood through out the structure, but it is the stone work that will grabs your interest. Find walls of beautifully laid stone through out the house, fire places towering to an elevated ceilings, spiral staircase of stone connecting the two levels and numerous accent walls.

This spectacular house is located no more than 3 minutes off US 29 on a low traffic paved road with the charm and convenience of downtown Culpeper only 10 minutes away. The setting is very private protected by massive iron gates hinged on stone columns.

This house presents as fresh and new inside and out. The 5 zone HVAC system is new. The granite counter tops are new. The paint, interior and exterior, is new. The two zone hot water system is new. The Master Suite has been refurbished with a new wet bar, new hardwood flooring and new tile and fixtures in the bath. The drives have been newly graded and graveled. The yards have been regraded and reseeded.

The Stone House in Reva is unique, rare, distinctive, interesting and exciting. A description of this property is complete only through personal observation.
